The long and short of Zeke's middle finger:

Here’s the latest on Zeke's finger – Thanks a ton for your prayers!!

Zeke had the stitches taken out yesterday (Wednesday Nov. 5th).  He was pretty nervous the whole time they were being pulled, but he came through it like a champ.

We’re still in a wait and see mode. The tip is very dark, dying and will come off eventually. The tip that was sewed on is more or less functioning like a biological band-aid right now to allow what’s underneath to heal and to protect the bone.

Our next move is to keep cleaning it once a day in order to keep it from getting infected and go back to the doctor in two weeks. The doctor said it could take a couple of months to know exactly what results we’ll have.

In his words, “In the end it might not look that bad.” Thanks, Doc.

Thanks again for your prayers! We’ll keep you updated.

Tomorrow I head out for a 9 day trip to Thailand. UWM is holding a Global Training Conference where most of our missionaries will come together for workshops on Leadership, Ministry Training, or how to form Partnerships with churches in the States for ministry. I’d appreciate your prayers for my time away (again) that my each step will be taken in God’s grace and peace and that Rachel and the boys will know His grace and peace as well.

I have some long flights and layovers so any book suggestions are welcomed!

Thanks again!!!

 WHO WILL GO...

Have you ever heard or read something that stopped you dead in your tracks and made you think, “Wow, that can’t be right, somebody should do something.” That happened to me when I read the following:

Dr. Ralph Winter, founder of the U.S. Center for World Missions comments: "Here is a tragic fact: Only about one out of a hundred 'missionary decisions' results in actual career mission service. Why? First, because few parents, pastors and friends really encourage anyone to follow through on that kind of a decision. But what if that number could double to two out of a hundred? The effect would be explosive!" No less than 100,000 sincere, envisioned people write each year to one or another of the various mission agencies in this country asking for information about possible service under that agency. The estimate is that less than 1,000 of those will ever make it to the field. Why? There is no one to nurture, guide and equip them to complete the process. In other words, the workers are plentiful, but the mobilizers are few! – copied from http://www.uscwm.org/
